This policy explains what Cynthia Winter collects through cynthiawinter.com, why, and what happens to it.
WHO HOLDS YOUR INFORMATION

WHAT IS COLLECTED
When you place an order: your name, email address, shipping address, billing address, and what you bought. If you order a signed book, the dedication you ask Cynthia to write.
When you use the contact form: your name, email address, and your message.
When you sign up for the newsletter: your name and email address.
When you visit: your browser and device type, the pages you look at, and the site that sent you. This is ordinary traffic information and it is not tied to your name.
Cynthia never sees or stores your card number. Card details are entered into a secure checkout and handled by Squarespace Payments, which uses its own providers to process the payment.
WHAT IT IS USED FOR
To fill your order, ship it, and write to you about it.
To answer your message when you get in touch.
To send you the newsletter, if you asked for it.
To keep the records the state of New York requires of anyone selling to the public.
That is the whole list. Your information is not sold, rented, or traded, and Cynthia does not use it to advertise to you anywhere else.
THE NEWSLETTER
You are only on it if you asked to be.
There are two ways to ask: the signup form on the site, or the checkbox at checkout. That checkbox is never ticked for you.
Buying something does not sign you up. Writing to Cynthia does not sign you up.
Every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link, and leaving takes one click. You can also write to Cynthia and she will remove you.
WHO ELSE HANDLES IT
The site runs on Squarespace, which stores orders, form submissions, and newsletter subscribers on Cynthia's behalf.
Payments are handled by Squarespace Payments.
The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which checks that a real person is submitting the form rather than a machine. Google receives your IP address and information about how you use the page. This applies to the contact page whether or not you send anything.
Orders are shipped by the United States Postal Service, which receives your name and address.
Nobody else. There is no advertising network, no analytics company, and no mailing list service beyond Squarespace's own.
COOKIES
Some cookies are necessary for the shop to work. They remember what is in your cart and keep the checkout secure.
Squarespace also places cookies that count visitors and show which pages are read. These are named ss_cid, ss_cvr, ss_cpvisit, ss_cvisit, and ss_cvt. Most last two years; ss_cvisit and ss_cvt last thirty minutes.
There is no advertising or tracking cookie on this site.
Your browser can block or delete cookies. Blocking them may stop the cart and checkout from working.
HOW LONG IT IS KEPT
Order records are kept for seven years, which is what tax recordkeeping requires.
Contact form messages are kept while they are useful and deleted when they are not.
Newsletter subscribers stay on the list until they leave.
Order notifications also arrive in Cynthia's own email, so a copy of your name and address sits in her inbox alongside the record in Squarespace.
WHAT YOU CAN ASK FOR
Write to Cynthia at cynthiawinter13@gmail.com and she will tell you what she holds about you, correct anything wrong, or delete what she is not required to keep. Tax records she has to keep.
This is a small business run by one person. There is no form and no process. She will simply write back.
CHILDREN
This site is not intended for children under 13, and Cynthia does not knowingly collect information from them.
CHANGES
Cynthia may update this page. The date at the top says when it last changed.
